Product Description The Dyson DC31 is a handheld canister-style vacuum cleaner offered by Dyson. It is powered by the Dyson digital motor which is smaller, lighter and more powerful than conventional motors with no carbon brushes or carbon dust. I uses Root Cyclone technology which uses centrifugal forces to spin dust out of the air and into the hygienic and easy to clean bin with no messy bags and loss of suction. It has a lightweight design, weighing only 2.9 lbs, and has balanced ergonomic weight distribution for easy handling. The dual power modes let you have 10 minutes of constant high suction or 6 minutes with 70% higher suction. The Dyson DC31 is also energy star qualified for energy efficient operation.

Small Jobs July 26, 2010 Jeffrey F. Henderson This product last only 6-10 minutes on a 3 hour charge. However it does a great job until it needs to be charged up again. The 6-10 minutes is detailed in the instructions not in the item discription.
LOVE my new DYSON July 16, 2010 DIANA M PAWLIK Super powered and effective -- not sure why it took me so long to get one! Definitely delivers on prodcut performance and stands head and shoulders above the rest. LOVE IT!
Handy little sucker July 7, 2010 HTBK (San Francisco, CA USA) This is my first hand-held vacuum. I always used my regular vacuum with the extenders instead, but this machine makes it so much easier to clean up small spills, crumbs, spider webs, etc. It's light-weight and can get into cramped areas easily. The suction power on this little vacuum is fantastic. The canister is easy to empty; a trigger releases the bottom and the waste falls into your trash can.
It's important to note that this machine has a short run time. It can go for 10 minutes on its lower power setting and 6 minutes on the higher power setting. I have never needed it to last longer than this for any single use, so the time limit has never been an issue for me. If I ever have bigger cleaning jobs to do, I use my Dyson DC25 Animal Ball-Technology Upright Vacuum Cleaner anyway.
Underpowered & Short Batter Live June 13, 2010 Dr. R. Lookatch (Bloomington, IN) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a big clunky and expensive vacuum but I Liked the nmhd battery idea. Fund it lacks vacuum power and the battery dies pretty fast and when it dies, the machine shuts down; no lower power time. I am buying a chorded unit.
bought two and wish I didn't. June 4, 2010 Robert Margolis (Washington State, CA USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
In the past year I have purchased two of these "great" vacuums through Amazon (BTW, performance is just ok). Before you consider making this purchase be prepared to have two battery issues. First, the run time of the battery, based upon a full charge, is about 90 seconds and then stops...dead. Second, the battery's rechargeable life span is about 9 mos assuming you use it a few times a week. This means you now have to buy a new battery at $75 which is ridiculous. I'm going to attempt to sell mine on eBay rather than support Dyson again.
